The Chainsmokers’ “Closer” Reaches 7X Platinum In US; Other Singles, EPs Also Certified

When it comes to RIAA certifications, the end of March was big for The Chainsmokers.

The duo’s smash hit “Closer (featuring Halsey)” ascended to 7x platinum on March 27, 2017. The certification confirms 7 million in US units; each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

March 27 also brought a gold certification for The Chainsmokers’ “Bouquet” EP. The award, which falls under the RIAA’s album program, confirms 500,000 in US units. Each unit is equal to 1 album sale, 10 track sales or 1500 track streams.

Three days earlier, The Chainsmokers received a platinum single certification for “Paris” (1 million units), a gold single certification for Coldplay collaboration “Something Just Like This” (500,000 units) and a platinum album certification for the “Collage” EP (1 million US units).
