Ratings: “The Americans” Season 5 Premiere Trails S4 Opener, Tops S4 Finale In L+SD

The Americans [FX Networks]

In terms of live+same-day viewership, fifth season premiere of FX’s “The Americans” trailed the fourth season opener but topped that season’s finale.

Per national L+SD data posted by Showbuzz, Tuesday’s “The Americans’ drew a 0.24 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 0.93 million overall viewers.

Last season opened with a 0.28 rating and 1.11 million viewers on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. It closed with a 0.21 and 0.77 million on 6/8/16.

In today’s age of DVR and multi-platform viewing, the live+same-day ratings obviously only tell a portion of the story. FX does not publicly comment on L+SD figures — even, as is the case with shows like “American Horror Story,” when the numbers are strong by cable standards.

As announced last year, “The Americans” will be concluding with the upcoming sixth season.
