FOX Orders A Second Season Of “STAR”

“Lethal Weapon” was not the only freshman FOX drama to receive a renewal Wednesday.

The network just issued a second season order to “STAR.”

While not nearly as successful as fellow FOX musical drama “Empire,” the series has been a consistent live+same-day ratings performer over the past few weeks. “STAR” also receives solid boosts from multi-platform viewership, leading to an overall audience of 7.5 million viewers per episode.

“Lee Daniels is a true visionary and he and Tom Donaghy have delivered a series with a unique and meaningful point of view,” said FOX’s David Madden. “Our incredible cast, led by Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt, instantly infused their characters with tremendous depth and passion, and the show has proved to be both powerful and really entertaining. We are thrilled that this STAR will continue to shine for a second season.”

The first season of “STAR” concludes March 15.
