Checking In On Radio Support For Lady Gaga’s “Million Reasons”

In addition to performing some of her most recognizable hits, Lady Gaga played current radio single “Million Reasons” during the Super Bowl halftime show.

We’re a week-and-a-half removed from the performance and just a few days away from a Grammy Awards ceremony that did not include a “Million Reasons” performance, but the song is still in the Top 5 on the US iTunes single sales chart.

But how is the song faring at radio?

“Million Reasons” rose one spot to #19 on this past week’s Mediabase hot adult contemporary airplay chart. It was up three spots to #28 on the corresponding pop listing.

Its weekly airplay was up by 20% at Hot AC and 12% at pop (for the February 5-11 tracking week). While not massive, the gains best those enjoyed during the week leading up to the Super Bowl (16% at Hot AC, 7% at pop).

“Million Reasons” is on pace for another week of double-digit percentage gains.

After the first four days of the February 12-18 tracking week, “Million Reasons” is up 20% in hot adult contemporary airplay and 14% in pop airplay. It is positioned at #18 on the building Hot AC chart (really #17 with Hailee Steinfeld & Grey’s building #11 “Starving” due to be removed as a recurrent) and #27 on the building pop chart (really #26 with Niall Horan’s building #19 “This Town” due to be removed as a recurrent).

The gains are neither explosive enough to guarantee a trip to the upper reaches of either chart nor quite befitting the song’s impressive performance on iTunes. They are still solid gains, however. They reflect continued support for the second “Joanne” single.
