For the first time since May 2016, an artist has received iHeartRadio’s “On The Verge” designation at pop radio.

Julia Michaels is that artist.

iHeart confirmed Friday that the singer-songwriter is its new “On The Verge” artist at the pop format.

In addition to branding support, “On The Verge” provides artists with guaranteed airplay across the iHeartMedia stations within a given genre. In this case, the airplay support will apply to Michaels’ debut single “Issues.”

“Issues” is off to a strong start at pop radio; after earning a Top 50 position last week, it is poised to comfortably move into the Top 40 on this week’s Mediabase pop chart. It is #33 on the building chart for the current January 22-28 tracking week.

This is, interestingly, not the first time a Julia Michaels-penned single has received support from the “On The Verge” program. Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself,” which was co-written by Michaels, was selected for the “On The Verge” program in the summer of 2015.
