Positioned as a four-song EP, John Mayer’s “The Search For Everything – Wave One” debuted on the US iTunes store late Thursday night.

By early Friday morning, it was #1 on the all-genre album sales chart.

Mayer noted last month that he would be releasing the album in monthly, four-song phases. “Wave One” includes lead single “Love On The Weekend.”

After soaring to #1 immediately upon launch, Starset’s new “Vessels” is now #2 on the chart. Jacob Sartorius’ “The Last Text” EP is #3, while AFI’s “AFI (The Blood Album)” (#4) and Nicky Jam’s “Fenix” (#5) also hold Top 5 positions.

Bryan Lanning’s “Us” (#6), the “La La Land” soundtrack (#7), “Kidz Bop 34” (#8), 3 Doors Down’s “The Greatest Hits” (#9), and The xx’s “I See You” (#10) complete the Top 10.
