Three major network New Year’s Eve specials aired Saturday night.
Only one appears to have enjoyed a year-to-year ratings gain.
Citing metered market data, NBC says its “New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly” drew a 5.1 overnight household rating. It posted a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating in the local people meter markets.
The numbers top the 4.3 overnight household rating and 2.7 local adults 18-49 rating drawn by last year’s Carson Daly special.
While NBC’s special rose, ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” and FOX’s “Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution” both suffered year-to-year declines.
The 11:30PM-1:15AM portion of “Rockin’ Eve” drew a 9.0 overnight household rating and a 6.8 local adults 18-49 rating (ratings for the 1:15-2:15 portion were not available at press time). While those were easily the best posted by a New Year’s Eve program this year, they trail the 9.9 overnight household rating and 7.4 local adults 18-49 rating garnered by last year’s special.
Airing from 11-12:30AM, “Pitbull’s New Near’s Revolution” drew a 2.6 overnight household rating and a 2.4 local adults 18-49 rating. Last year’s show drew a 3.1 in households and a 2.7 in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Co-hosted by Daly and Mel B, “New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly” featured appearances by J.Lo, Blake Shelton, Pentatonix, and Alicia Keys.
