Metallica’s “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” Wins US Sales Race, Claims #1 On Billboard 200

Update: When it comes to sales for the week’s key albums, there was a greater-than-usual discrepancy between the Hits/BuzzAngle data and the more authoritative Billboard data.

The hierarchy atop the chart is the same, however. Metallica’s “Hardwired … To Self-Destruct” takes #1 on Top Album Sales and the Billboard 200. Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” debuts at #2 on both charts, while Miranda Lambert’s “The Weight Of These Wings” earns #3.

According to Billboard, “Hardwire” sold 282,000 pure US copies during the November 18-24 tracking week. The inclusion of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) yields a first-week consumption total of 291,000 units.

The former figure positions “Hardwired” at #1 on Top Album Sales, while the latter figure is enough for #1 on the Billboard 200.

“24K Magic” takes #2 on the Billboard 200 with 231,000 units (194K from pure sales), while “The Weight Of These Wings” grabs #3 with 133,000 units (122K from sales).

Making good on projections, Metallica’s “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” easily won the weekly US album sales and consumption races.

According to BuzzAngle/Hits, “Hardwired” sold approximately 295,113 pure US copies during the November 18-24 tracking week. The count easily ranks as the week’s best pure sales figure.

The inclusion of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) results in a first-week consumption total of ~305,688 units. That figure easily ranks as the week’s best consumption sum.

Due Sunday, Billboard’s more authoritative data will differ slightly from that reported by BuzzAngle. The discrepancy will not, however, change the outcomes: the sales figure will earn “Hardwired” #1 on Top Album Sales, while the latter will grab the album #1 on the Billboard 200.

This week’s other notable pure sales performers: Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” (~189,745 sales), Miranda Lambert’s “The Weight Of These Wings” (~134,415 sales), Pentatonix’s “A Pentatonix Christmas” (~79,858 sales), Garth Brooks’ “The Ultimate Collection” (~57,756 sales)

This week’s other notable consumption performers: “24K Magic” (~224,413 units), “The Weight Of These Wings” (~146,413 units), “A Pentatonix Christmas” (~85,972 units), “The Ultimate Collection” (~57,756 units)
