Ratings: NBC’s “This Is Us” Impresses In Toughest Test Yet

This Is Us [NBC]

NBC’s “This Is Us” fared well in what represented its toughest test so far.

Tuesday’s episode, which aired out of a “The Voice” recap show and against game six of the World Series, nearly matched last week’s performance in the live+same-day ratings.

It easily ranked as Tuesday’s top non-sports show in adults 18-49.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Tuesday’s “This Is Us” drew a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating and 8.39 million total viewers. The numbers only narrowly trail the 2.4 rating and 8.68 million viewer mark garnered by last week’s episode, and the circumstances were markedly less desirable.

Whereas last week’s “The Voice” lead-in drew a 2.1 rating and 9.41 million viewers, this week’s recap show delivered a 1.4 and 6.77 million total viewers. While concrete ratings are not yet available, it is clear that this Tuesday’s baseball game drew considerably stronger ratings than last week’s game.

Not simply a solid live+same-day performer, “This Is Us” has been receiving huge lifts from DVR viewership. There is no reason to believe this week’s episode will break that trend.

— Tuesday’s “Chicago Fire” drew a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating and 6.55 million total viewers; last week’s episode drew a 1.6 and 6.93 million.
