A very close race on the weekly US Spotify chart ends in favor of the incumbent. The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey)” retains its #1 position.

Credited with 13.620 million US streams, “Closer” earns an eighth straight week at #1.

Whereas it doubled the closest competitor last week, it bests this week’s runner-up by fewer than 1.5 million streams. The Weeknd’s “Starboy (featuring Daft Punk),” which rockets into the #2 position, received 12.124 million Spotify plays during the September 23-29 tracking week.

Major Lazer’s “Cold Water (featuring Justin Bieber & MØ)” drops a spot to #3 with 6.984 million, while DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You (featuring Justin Bieber)” stays #4 with 6.941 million.

With a weekly streaming count of 6.776 million, D.R.A.M.’s “Broccoli (featuring Lil Yachty)” retains its #5 position.
