“Designated Survivor,” “Speechless” Receive Full Season Orders At ABC

Designated Survivor [ABC]

This Wednesday’s “Designated Survivor” and “Speechless” did not perform as well as last week’s premiere episodes in the live+same-day ratings.

They also did not crash. They, moreover, fared well from a competitive standpoint. The former won its timeslot, while the latter was #3 — but only a few tenths away from #1.

Combined with DVR data from last week’s series openers, this week’s performances provided ABC with enough confidence to issue full season orders to both shows.

The orders call for nine additional episodes, bringing each show’s season one total to 22.
