Ratings: “Quantico” Returns Softly, “Secrets And Lies” Sinks, “OUAT” Down

ABC’s Sunday night lineup did not make a strong live+same-day splash.

The second season premieres of “Quantico” and “Secrets And Lies” each posted soft numbers. 8PM veteran “Once Upon A Time” was the network’s strongest Sunday show but still down substantially from last year’s opener.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, “Quantico” opened with a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating and 3.61 million total viewers. While on par with the 1.0 rating and 3.78 million viewer mark drawn by the first season finale, the numbers greatly trail the 1.9 rating and 7.14 million audience figure garnered by last year’s series premiere.

ABC led into “Quantico” with the second season premiere of “Secrets And Lies.” It drew a 1.0 rating and 4.05 million total viewers.

Last year, “Quantico” compensated for its unremarkable live+same-day ratings with impressive lifts in live+3 and live+7. It will be interesting to see if that pattern persists this year.

Given that “Secrets And Lies” closed its first season on a much stronger note (1.8 rating, 6.53 million viewers on 5/3/15), the performance is more disappointing than that of “Quantico.” It appears the lengthy time period between seasons — over a full year — and change in cast/setting/premise stripped the once red-hot show of its buzz.

“Secrets And Lies” opened its first season with a 1.5 and 6.06 million viewers on March 1, 2015.

While it was ABC’s strongest show of the night in adults 18-49, the “Once Upon A Time” premiere was also down sharply from last year. Sunday’s episode drew a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating and 3.89 million total viewers. The numbers trail the 1.8 rating and 5.93 million viewer mark garnered by last season’s premiere.
