After spending two weeks in the runner-up slot, Metallica’s “Hardwired” climbs to #1 on this week’s Mediabase active rock airplay chart.

The lead “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” single received ~2,303 spins during the September 18-24 tracking week. The count bests last week’s mark by 219 plays.

Green Day’s “Bang Bang,” which spent the past three weeks at #1, slips to #2 with ~2,207 spins (+16). The Pretty Reckless’ “Take Me Down” holds at #3 with ~2,059 (+32), while a spin count of ~1,281 (+59) brings KoRn’s “Rotting In Vain” up one place to #4.

Played ~1,238 times during the official tracking week (-2), Prophets Of Rage’s “Prophets Of Rage” drops one place to #5.
