CBS Picks Up “Superior Donuts,” Thirteen Episodes Confirmed

CBS has an appetite for “Superior Donuts.”

The network confirms that it will air the pilot plus twelve additional episodes of the comedy.

Based on the play by Tracy Letts, “Superior Donuts” follows “the relationship between the gruff owner (Judd Hirsch) of a small donut shop, his enterprising new young employee (Jermaine Fowler) and their loyal patrons, in a quickly gentrifying Chicago neighborhood.

Other cast members include David Koechner, Maz Jobrani, Anna Baryshnikov, Darien Sills-Evans, Rell Battle and Katey Sagal.

“Superior Donuts” will air during the 2016-17 television season, but a specific premiere date has not yet been set.
