Major Lazer, Justin Bieber & MØ’s “Cold Water” Headed For #1 At Pop Radio

Thanks to “Cold Water,” Major Lazer is about to score its second pop radio #1.

The song, which features Justin Bieber and MØ, received 9,232 pop spins during the first four days of the September 11-17 tracking week. Up 6.4% from last week, the count positions “Cold Water” at #1 on Mediabase’s building airplay chart.

In addition to holding a lead over Adele’s building #2 “Send My Love (To Your New Lover),” “Cold Water” is gaining at a faster rate. It should have no trouble maintaining its advantage through the close of tracking.

The Chainsmokers’ building #3 “Closer (featuring Halsey)” is rising very quickly, but it is unlikely to catch “Cold Water” in time for this week’s chart.

Assuming it holds on for #1, “Cold Water” will have reached the Mediabase pop chart’s pinnacle in just its ninth week on the listing.

Major Lazer’s first pop radio #1 came courtesy “Lean On,” which also features MØ (as well as DJ Snake).
