Sia & Kendrick Lamar’s “The Greatest” Receiving Early Pop Airplay In San Francisco, Detroit

Sia's The Greatest Video [RCA Records]

With Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” still commanding significant airplay — it actually has a chance of retaining its #1 position on this week’s Mediabase pop chart (marking seven weeks on top) — RCA is not rushing to promote follow-up single “The Greatest (featuring Kendrick Lamar).” The song will not formally go for pop radio adds until September 27.

Several pop stations have, however, opted to start playing the new song.

San Francisco’s 99.7 NOW is thus far leading the way. The major market pop station had played the song ten times through September 8.

Detroit’s 98.7 AMP had offered 5 spins by the end of Thursday, while San Diego’s ENERGY 103.7 played the song thrice.

A handful of other stations, including Philadelphia’s 96.5AMP and Orlando’s 101.9AMP, had played the song twice through 9/8.

Of note: all of the aforementioned stations are owned by CBS.
