NBC has looked internally for the host of its 2017 Golden Globes Awards broadcast. The network confirmed Tuesday that “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon will lead the festivities this January.

The 2017 Golden Globes show, which is 74th annual edition of the awards ceremony, will air live on both coasts at 8PM ET/5PM PT on January 8, 2017.

“We’re thrilled to announce Jimmy as host of ‘The 74th Annual Golden Globes,’” says NBC’s Bob Greenblatt. “This is the most spontaneous and uninhibited award show on television, and Jimmy’s playful, disarming comedic brilliance makes him the ideal host to enhance and elevate the sense of fun and irreverence that’s made the Golden Globes one of the premier events of the entire broadcast year.”

Ricky Gervais hosted last year’s edition of the Globes.
