The cast of “Hairspray Live” has grown by two. NBC confirms that Dove Cameron and Garrett Clayton will appear in the upcoming live musical broadcast.

Cameron, best known for starring in “Descendants” and “Liv And Maddie,” will play Amber Von Tussle. Her character is the daughter to Kristin Chenoweth’s Velma; Chenoweth interestingly, played Cameron’s mother in the aforementioned “Descendants.”

Clayton, who starred in both “Teen Beach” movies,” joins “Hairspray Live” as Link Larkin.

In addition to Chenoweth, other previously confirmed cast members include Harvey Fierstein, Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande, Martin Short, Derek Hough, and Maddie Baillio. “Hairspray Live” airs at 8PM on December 7.

“In “Hairspray Live!,” teenager Tracy Turnblad’s dream is to dance on “The Corny Collins Show,” a local TV program,” says NBC of its latest musical adaptation. “When against all odds Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight and meets a colorful array of characters, including the resident dreamboat, Link; the ambitious mean girl, Amber; an African-American boy she meets in detention, Seaweed; and his mother, Motormouth Maybelle, the owner of a local record store. Tracy’s mother is the indomitable Edna, and she eventually encourages Tracy on her campaign to integrate the all-white “Corny Collins Show.”

“Hairspray Live” follows “The Sound Of Music Live,” “Peter Pan Live,” and “The Wiz Live” as the fourth in NBC’s series of live primetime musical adaptations.
