Drake’s “Controlla” Headed For #1 At Rhythmic Radio

Drake [NBC]

It was only last month that Drake’s “One Dance (featuring WizKid & Kyla)” concluded its multi-week reign at rhythmic radio.

This week, he will return to the top of the rhythmic mountain. Drake’s “Controlla” is poised to claim #1 on this week’s Mediabase rhythmic airplay chart.

“Controlla” received 2,729 spins during the first three days of the July 24-30 tracking week. While that narrowly trails the 2,774 received by Rihanna’s reigning #1 “Needed Me” during the tracking period, momentum favors Drake’s tune.

Versus the same time last week, the spin count for “Controlla” is up by 8.4%. The “Needed Me” count, on the other hand, is down by 6.1%. Assuming the trajectories do not radically change, “Controlla” will have no trouble closing the gap before the chart goes final.
