Blink-182’s “California” Sales Projection Again Upgraded; Will Top Drake’s “Views” On BB200

Blink-182 [ABC]

As the conclusion of the July 1-7 tracking week draws near, Hits Daily Double has again upgraded its sales and consumption projections for Blink-182’s “California.”

At this point in the week, the upgraded projections make it clear “California” will be the US leader in both regards.

Hits is now projecting an first-week pure sales total of around 160,000 US copies. The inclusion of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) could produce a first week consumption tally of 175,000.

The pure sales figure will almost triple that of the week’s #2 performer. Maxwell’s new “BlackSUMMERS’night,” that performer, is pacing for 55-60,000 pure US sales.

The consumption tally will give “California” a convincing edge over Drake’s “Views.” The Drake album, which has been the weekly consumption champion for nine straight weeks, should generate 110-115,000 units.

The pure sales victory will slot “California” at #1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart; the latter will earn Blink’s album the Billboard 200 throne. “California” will become the band’s second #1 — and first since “Take Off Your Pants and Jacket” — on the latter chart.
