Blink-182’s “California” Sales Projection Upgraded; Album Still Pacing To Dethrone Drake’s “Views”

Blink-182 [GMA]

Blink-182’s “California” held up slightly better than expected over the Fourth of July Weekend, and its opening week US sales projection has been accordingly upgraded.

Hits Daily Double says the album is now on track to sell 125-135,000 pure US copies during the July 1-7 tracking week. The inclusion of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) should yield an opening week consumption total of 135-145,000 units.

Such a consumption figure would be enough to earn “California” #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Drake’s “Views,” which will likely generate 95-115,000 in weekly consumption, has ruled the chart for the past nine weeks.

“California” will even more convincingly win the pure sales battle. The week’s #2 seller will likely be Maxwell’s “blackSUMMERS’night,” which Hits anticipates will sell just over 50,000 in the US.
