“The Mysteries Of Laura” Cancelled By NBC; Debra Messing Comments

The bad news NBC delivered to “Undateable,” “Crowded,” “Telenovela,” “Heartbeat,” and “Game Of Silence” was also delivered to “The Mysteries Of Laura.”

The drama will not receive a third season.

An old-skewing series, “Laura” delivered modest ratings in the adults 18-49 demographic but a solid weekly viewership total. Some expected NBC to retain the series as a utility player given its overall audience level, ratings predictability (it is not a huge hit, but at least NBC would generally know what it would be getting when scheduling the show) and star Debra Messing, but the network ultimately felt confident enough in its slate of new series to move on.

Responding to the cancellation, star Messing Tweeted, “My dear Diamonds- our story has ended but it was a joyous story to tell. We are all so grateful to you for your love.”
