“Empire” Returns Up, Dominates Wednesday Ratings Race, Aids “Rosewood”

Back from its winter hiatus, FOX’s “Empire” posted big numbers Wednesday night. It easily ranked as broadcast television’s top show in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

Per fast national data from Showbuzz, the “Empire” midseason premiere drew a 4.7 adults 18-49 rating and 12.2 million total live+same-day viewers. The numbers were both up from the fall finale, which drew a 4.5 and 11.8 million.

The show’s closest adults 18-49 and viewership competition came from “Survivor,” which drew a 2.1 and 9.4 million.

The return of 9PM flagship “Empire” also boosted 8PM series “Rosewood.” The show, which had been posting considerably softer numbers (a 1.0 and 3.7 million last week) when paired with “Hell’s Kitchen,” perked up to a 1.4 and 5.1 million.
