Selena Gomez’ “Hands To Myself” Widens Lead In Race For #1 at Pop Radio (Updated)

Update: While the race for #1 on this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart is still very close, Selena Gomez’ “Hands To Myself” has widened its lead over Flo Rida’s “My House.”

Gomez’ song received 9,254 spins during the first four days of the March 27-April 2 tracking week, which bests the mark at this point last week by 4.6%. “My House” received 9,018 in the four day window, which trails last week’s count by 10.1%.

Given its lead and advantageous trajectory, “Hands To Myself” is certainly in good shape. Given that “My House” is only 236 spins away, it is still too early to guarantee a victory for the Gomez song.

Close behind both songs is G-Eazy x Bebe Rexha’s “Me, Myself & I.” The song, which is #3 on the building chart, received 8,854 spins during the tracking week’s first four days (+5.4%).

Following the first three days of the March 27-April 2 tracking week, Selena Gomez’ “Hands To Myself” is leading the race for #1 at pop radio.

That race, however, is a very tight one.

Gomez’ single received 6,848 spins during the first three days of the tracking week, which results in a #1 position on the Mediabase building pop chart.

The building chart’s #2 song is Flo Rida’s “My House,” which trails by a mere two spins. It received 6,846 plays during the tracking week’s first three days.

The good news for Gomez? Her song is still accelerating — the current spin count is up by 3.8% from where it was at this point last week. The spin count for “My House,” meanwhile, is down by 8.8% from the same time last week.

If they remain on their current trajectories, “Hands To Myself” will hold the #1 position through the close of tracking. It will claim the top spot on this week’s official Mediabase pop chart.

Of course, insofar as they are presently separated by only two spins, the race is far from over. If “Hands To Myself” were to endure a notable slowdown in acceleration or “My House” were to enjoy a notable slowdown in deceleration, the final outcome could shift.

In a testament to the tightness of the race, it is worth noting that G-Eazy x Bebe Rexha’s “Me, Myself & I,” the #3 song on the building chart, is currently only 271 spins behind “My House” (and 273 behind “Hands To Myself”). It may not challenge for #1 this week, but it will most likely end the week with a spin count in the same general ballpark as those of the Gomez and Flo Rida tunes.
