Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller” Receives Platinum Certification in the US

While not yet formally listed on the RIAA’s website, word has emerged that Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller” has attained platinum status in the United States.

The platinum certification confirms a US unit count of at least 1 million; one unit is equal to 1 sale, 10 track sales or 1500 on-demand audio or video track streams.

News of the certification comes as Stapleton’s critically acclaimed — and Grammy-winning — 2015 release returns to the top spot on the Billboard Country Albums chart.

According to Nielsen Music, “Traveller” sold a genre-leading 43,850 US copies during the February 19-25 tracking week. It reclaims the Country Albums #1 position from Joey + Rory’s “Hymns,” which slips to #2 after debuting at the apex last week.

Through February 25, the album boasted a cumulative US sales total of nearly 958,000.
