Update: By request, photos from Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy Awards rehearsal were removed. We apologize to readers for any inconvenience.

In an interview hyping Monday’s 58th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, host LL Cool J used the term “controversial” to describe Kendrick Lamar’s planned performance.

Photos from Sunday’s rehearsals provide a glimpse into that controversial performance.

The photos – one featuring Lamar, several featuring backup dancers – reveal a performance that will include prison cells and chains. Lamar’s Grammy-nominated “To Pimp A Butterfly” was praised for its perspective on race, and it is clear his performance will address the issue as well.

Monday’s show airs at 8PM ET/5PM PT.
