Katy Perry Praises Disclosure & Lorde’s “Magnets,” Tame Impala, Weeknd, Years & Years, Others

Disclosure’s Top 15 hit “Magnets (featuring Lorde)” has a supporter in one of pop music’s biggest stars.

Speaking to the New York Times about her upcoming “An Evening to Celebrate the Creators” party, Perry identified “Magnets” as a song she is currently loving.

“I love Tame Impala so much,” answered Perry in response to a question about the music to which she is currently listening. “I love Purity Ring, I love Years and Years, I love the Jamie xx record from last year. Caribou, Rationale. I can’t wait for the new Rhye record. I love the ‘Magnets’song [by Disclosure] with Lorde.

Perry also identified The Weeknd as a Grammy-nominated artist for whom she will be rooting at this coming Monday’s ceremony.

“The Weeknd has come a long way, especially since the very beginning when he put out all those records himself,” said Perry. “He took a chance and went a little bit more pop. To see that growth happen so quickly and knowing his evolution is a pretty cool story.”

Perry is joining forces with Spotify on the aforemetioned “Creators” party. The hook is that it will be an opportunity for artists, songwriters — accomplished and emerging — to mingle free of the managers, publicists, reporters, and other non-musicians that often crowd major industry parties and events.
