5 Seconds Of Summer’s “Amnesia” Receives 2X Platinum Honor In The US

5SOS [ABC]

On December 17, 2014, 5 Seconds Of Summer’s hit ballad “Amnesia” went platinum in the United States.

On February 8, 2016, it ascended to multi-platinum status.

The song officially earned a 2x platinum certification this past Monday. The certification confirms a US unit total of at least 2 million.

Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, 1 unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams (this was recently upgraded from 1 unit = 100 streams; the extent to which retroactive scoring is applied is unclear).

“Amnesia” appears on the band’s self-titled debut.
