“Walking On A Dream” Posts Sales Gain, Debuts on Hot 100 Thanks to Honda Commercial

Honda’s “The Dreamer” commercial, which features Empire Of The Sun’s “Walking On A Dream,” has been featured during all of this month’s NFL playoff games — and during many other national television programs.

That constant — and significant — exposure has thrust the 2008 song back onto the radar. This week, it thrusts “Walking On A Dream” onto the Billboard Hot 100.

“Dream” debuts at #82 on the chart, which accounts for combined sales, streaming, and radio activity.

Sales make the most notable contribution. According to Nielsen Music, “Walking On A Dream” sold 29,561 US digital copies during the January 15-21 tracking week. Up 14% from the previous week’s mark, which was itself boosted by the commercial, “Dream” takes #30 on the Digital Songs subchart.

Through January 21, “Walking On A Dream” had sold 829,456 copies in the US.
