The Weeknd’s “In The Night” Enters Top 30 at Hot AC Radio; Daya’s “Hide Away” Goes Top 40

The Weeknd [ABC]

“In The Night,” the latest radio single from The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind The Madness,” is officially one of the Top 30 songs at hot adult contemporary radio.

Already a Top 10 hit at pop and rhythmic radio, the multi-format release rises to #28 on this week’s Mediabase Hot AC airplay chart. Up four places, the song received 731 spins during the December 20-26 tracking week (+170).

“In The Night” is the week’s only addition to the Top 30.

The Top 40 also plays host to one addition.

Daya’s “Hide Away,” that song, rises five places to #38. It received 417 weekly spins (+103).

While “Hide Away” has thus far been far more successful at pop radio (it is currently #13), it actually received its first radio love from the Hot AC format. The breakthrough hit started to gain Hot AC traction earlier this year but stalled before it could reach the Top 40.

Despite the Hot AC slowdown, “Hide Away” ultimately proved resonant at the pop format. As pop programmers showered the song with support, hot adult contemporary programmers developed a renewed excitement for the song.
