Shawn Mendes Announced As First People’s Choice Awards Performer

With less than one month remaining until the annual People’s Choice Awards, CBS announced the ceremony’s first confirmed performer.

Taking the stage at the January 6, 2016 show will be Shawn Mendes.

Mendes, who officially broke through as a pop star in 2015, is also up for the — you guessed it — Favorite Breakthrough Artist award at the show.

“Shawn is such an incredibly talented artist and we are looking forward to having him perform at our show,” said executive producer Mark Burnett. “He is a huge fan favorite and that is what our show is really all about, the fans.”

Jane Lynch hosts the annual ceremony.
