Ratings Update: FOX’s “Empire” Rebounds For Winter Finale

Update: Adversely affected by the Thanksgiving Eve broadcast date, last week’s “Empire” set series lows in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

It rebounded this week.

According to Nielsen, Wednesday’s episode drew a 4.5 adults 18-49 rating and 11.812 million total viewers. The numbers markedly topped the 3.2 rating and 9.205 million viewer mark posted last week.

They also top the 4.4 rating and 11.336 million viewership number delivered by the November 18 episode.

While down from its late first season/early second season peaks, “Empire” remains a dominant ratings performer. Consistently Wednesday night’s top show, “Empire” also ranks as network television’s top scripted program — on a weekly basis — in adults 18-49.

— FOX led into “Empire” with “Rosewood” (1.5, 5.043 million this week vs. 1.2, 4.640 million last week).

“Empire” resumes its second season in March.

— FOX led into “Empire” with “Rosewood” (1.4, 5.033 million). Last week’s Thanksgiving Eve broadcast drew a 1.2 with 4.640 million.
