“His performance is a medley of songs, but each song has its own environment, says producer Larry Klein of Justin Bieber’s 2015 American Music Awards performance, which will close the show. “It’s like a theatrical play.”

Klein’s comments appear in backstage interview footage issued to the press. The producer demonstrated excitement for what he declared will be an “outrageous, outrageous finale.”

Klein is not the only one excited for the performance.

The same interview footage reveals enthusiasm from Meghan Trainor and Pentatonix.

Asked with whom she is most excited to share the stage, Trainor commented (through a smile), “Justin Bieber. I’m a Belieber, whatever!”

As the members of Pentatonix discussed the performances for which they are most excited, Pentatonix’s Mitch Grassi commented, “Bieber’s performing…I’m excited for that. I love the new stuff he’s been releasing.” The other members concurred.

Not exclusively excited for Bieber, Trainor also confirmed her excitement for host Jennifer Lopez’ performance.

“I love her, she always puts on a crazy good show,” said Trainor.

Pentatonix’s Kevin Olusola professed his interest in The Weeknd’s performance, while Scott Hoying declared interest in seeing One Direction.

Other comments from the interview footage:

Producer Larry Klein on host Jennifer Lopez: “How can you do better than Jennifer Lopez? Honestly? You can’t! She’s a threat in music, in TV, in movies, in fashion…it’s amazing to me. I can’t tell you how excited I am!”

Meghan Trainor on competing for the Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock award: “Winning, I just assume I don’t. It’s me, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande. I’m like…they are queens, there’s no way [I win].”

PTX’s Kevin Olusola on his group’s “Star Wars” medley: “We’re kind of going back to our choral roots. We’ve all been in choir, and so we get to sing operatically, which has been fun.”

PTX’s Kirstie Maldonado on the caliber of AMAs performances: “I feel like a lot of my favorite past performances have been from the AMAs. I feel like everyone really packs a punch when they come here and perform.”

5 Seconds of Summer’s Ashton Irwin on what makes the AMAs special: “It’s obviously a cultural thing – the American Music Awards is special to Americans. The fans come, and they come to see the bands, and it’s just a place where all the artists can collaborate and meet each other. I actually think this is the only music awards show where I get to meet people.”
