Chris Rock, Dubbed “MVP of the Entertainment Industry,” Is Hosting The Oscars

ABC, the Motion Picture Academy, and show producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin jointly announced Wednesday that Chris Rock will return as host for the 88th Annual Academy Awards. The ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, February 28, 2016.

Rock previously hosted the 2015 edition of the Oscars.

“Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry,” said Hill and Hudlin. “Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian – he’s done it all. He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!”

“It’s great to be back,” added Rock.

Prior to Wednesday’s announcement, rumors suggested that the 88th Oscars ceremony would feature a pair of co-hosts.
