Hot 100: The Weeknd’s “The Hills” Retains #1, Shawn Mendes Goes Top 5

Already a strong performer in terms of airplay, sales, and streaming, The Weeknd’s “The Hills” benefited from the release of remixes featuring Eminem and Nicki Minaj.

The benefit allows “The Hills” to hold off Drake’s soaring “Hotline Bling” and retain its top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

This represents the song’s fifth consecutive week atop the all-encompassing listing.

According to Nielsen, “The Hills” notably sold 189,000 copies during the October 9-15 tracking week (+93%). The Weeknd’s original version comprised 51% of those sales (~96,000), Eminem’s remix was responsible for 35% (~66,000), and Nicki Minaj’s take generated the remaining 14% (~26,000).

Drake’s “Hotline Bling” holds at #2 this week.

Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” once again follows at #3, while Fetty Wap’s “679” (#4, +1) and Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (#5, +3) complete the Top 5.

“Stitches” is making its inaugural Top 5 appearance this week. It also represents the first Top 5 hit of Mendes’ career.

The remainder of this week’s Top 10:

6) Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” (+3)
7) The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” (-1)
8) R. City’s “Locked Away (featuring Adam Levine)” (-1)
9) Silento’s “Watch Me” (-5)
10) Selena Gomez’ “Good For You” (=)
