Ratings Update: FOX’s “Scream Queens” Falls in Week Two; “Grandfathered,” “Grinder” Disappoint

Final Ratings Update: According to final broadcast data, Tuesday’s “Scream Queens” drew a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating with 3.47 million total viewers.

The numbers trail those posted by last week’s two-hour series premiere, which posted a 1.7 adults 18-49 and 4.04 million viewers. That episode drew a 1.6 with 3.76 million in the 9-10PM hour.

FOX’s Tuesday night lineup also included the premieres of “Grandfathered” (1.5, 5.34 million) and “The Grinder” (1.5, 4.98 million). Both performances were disappointing.

Update: Tuesday’s “Scream Queens” suffered week-over-week drops in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

The episode, which aired in the show’s regular 9PM timeslot, posted a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating with 3.56 million total viewers.

Last week’s two-hour premiere averaged a 1.7 with 4.04 million viewers. Its 9-10PM portion drew a 1.6 with 3.76 million.

FOX led into “Scream Queens” with the premieres of “Grandfathered” and “The Grinder.” The older-skewing shows markedly outdrew last week’s “Scream Queens” premiere in total viewers (5.28 million and 4.93 million, respectively) but underwhelmed in the key adults 18-49 demographic. Both shows opened with a 1.5 rating.

Leading out of the premieres of FOX comedies “Grandfathered” and “The Grinder,” “Scream Queens” again posted a modest overnight household rating.

Tuesday’s episode, which marked the time period premiere, drew a 2.5 overnight household rating in the 9PM hour.

Last week’s two-hour episode averaged a 2.9 from 8-10PM; the 9-10PM portion specifically delivered a 2.6.

In addition to last week’s 2.9 overnight household rating, the episode drew a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating with 4.04 million viewers from 8-10PM (and a 1.6 with 3.76 million from 9-10PM). The performance would not be considered poor in many cases, but it was disappointing given this particular show’s abundance of hype (and thus heightened expectations).

— The aforementioned “Grandfathered” and “Grinder” premieres posted overnight household ratings of 4.0 and 3.8, respectively. In terms of households, they collectively outdrew the 8-9PM portion of last week’s “Scream Queens” premiere (3.2).

That margin of victory may not hold when it comes to adults 18-49, however.

Adults 18-49 and viewership data for all three FOX shows is due by 11:15AM.
