Demi Lovato’s “Cool For The Summer” Officially Certified Platinum in the US

As attention begins to shift to follow-up “Confident,” news comes that Demi Lovato’s “Cool For The Summer” has been certified platinum by the RIAA.

While not listed on the official RIAA website, the achievement was confirmed in a joint press release from Hollywood Records, Island Records and the Lovato-founded Safehouse Records.

Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, the platinum certification confirms a US unit total in excess of 1 million. One unit is equal to 1 sale/paid download or 100 streams.

As first reported by Headline Planet, “Cool For The Summer” boasted a pure US sales total of 651,893 at the conclusion of the September 11-17 tracking week.

“Cool For The Summer” was released as the lead single from Lovato’s forthcoming album “Confident.”
