X Ambassadors’ “Renegades” Heading Top 5 at Hot AC; Elle King Likely Going Top 10

Two smash alternative radio hits are making major moves at the hot adult contemporary format.

X Ambassadors’ “Renegades,” which spent eleven weeks at #1 on the alternative airplay listing, is about to reach the Top 5 on Mediabase’s official Hot AC chart.

“Renegades” received 2,199 spins during the first three days of the September 13-19 tracking week. Up 14.2% from last week’s mark, the count earns “Renegades” the #5 spot on Mediabase’s building chart.

Since it is rising — and facing no imminent threat — “Renegades” should have no trouble retaining its Top 5 position over the tracking week’s final four days.

Elle King’s “Ex’s and Oh’s,” which is the current #1 at alt radio, is moving toward the Top 10 at Hot AC.

“Ex’s and Oh’s” received 1,561 spins during the tracking week’s first three days (+14.9%). That scores it the #10 spot on Mediabase’s building Hot AC airplay chart.

While it could potentially be leapfrogged by Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” (currently #14 on the building chart with 1,483 spins), “Ex’s and Oh’s” may itself be able to overtake Andy Grammer’s “Honey, I’m Good” (currently #9 with 1,589 spins) before the week is out. As a result, it has a good chance of scoring a Top 10 position on the official chart.
