Ratings: FX’s “The Strain” Improves Against Sunday Night Football

While Sunday’s “The Strain” faced competition from the first Sunday Night Football game of the season, it benefited from not airing on the eve of Labor Day.

The net result was positive: the FX drama enjoyed week-over-week gains in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

Sunday’s “Strain” still posted a 0.56 adults 18-49 rating with 1.296 million viewers. Both numbers top those of last week’s broadcast, which posted a 0.50 with 1.154 million viewers.

From a ratings standpoint, the second season of “The Strain” has not been as hot as the first. FX has nonetheless already renewed the show for a third season.
