Ratings: FX’s “The Strain” Slips This Week

While it did not return to the series low levels posted on August 23, FX’s “The Strain” suffered week-over-week losses in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

Sunday’s episode, which was the ninth of the second season, drew a 0.50 adults 18-49 rating with 1.154 million viewers.

Both numbers trail those of the previous broadcast, which managed a 0.61 rating and 1.360 million viewers. That episode, moreover, faced competition from MTV’s Video Music Awards (this week’s, however, aired on the eve of Labor Day).

This week’s “The Strain” was the second-least-watched episode yet. Only the aforementioned 8/23 episode, which battled the last half hour of AMC’s “Fear The Walking Dead” premiere, fared worse (0.949 million).

On the whole, season two has not performed nearly as well as season one. FX, nonetheless, has already ordered a third season.
