Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MO’s “Lean On” Reaches #1 at Pop Radio

After four weeks under the auspices of The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart now belongs to a new song.

Major Lazer’s & DJ Snake’s “Lean On (featuring MØ)” completes its ascent to the top. Up one place from last week’s runner-up position, “Lean On” received approximately ~18,151 spins during the August 30-September 5 tracking week (+405).

In celebrating the achievement, Major Lazer Diplo confirmed that “Lean On” is the first independently released song to ever reach #1 on the pop airplay chart.

The aforementioned “Face” slips to #3 on this week’s chart (~15,968, -2,084), which allows Selena Gomez’ “Good For You (featuring A$AP Rocky)” to reach #2. The song, which seems destined to reach #1, received ~17,449 tracking week spins (+1,381).

Demi Lovato’s “Cool For The Summer” (#4, +1 | ~13,780, +808) and R. City’s “Locked Away (featuring Adam Levine)” (#5, +3 | ~12,062, +1,634) complete the top five. The R. City song is making its inaugural appearance in the Top 5.

— “Lean On” concurrently holds the #4 position at rhythmic radio and a Top 25 slot at Hot AC.
