Ed Sheeran’s “x” Battling Luke Bryan’s “Kill The Lights” in Album Sales Race

Luke Bryan’s “Kill The Lights” will definitely outsell Dr. Dre’s “Compton” during the August 14-20 album sales tracking week.

It is not, however, a lock to secure the #1 position.

Thanks to a $0.99 sale on Google Play, Ed Sheeran’s “x” is enjoying a massive sales surge. According to Hits Daily Double, that sales surge puts it neck-and-neck with “Kill the Lights” in the album sales race.

As of press time, both albums are expected to sell 80-90,000 pure copies during the tracking week. The race for #1 on Top Album Sales will come down to the wire.

The same will likely be true of the race for #1 on the Billboard 200, which ranks albums based on the sum of pure sales, track sales/10 and track streams/1500.

Other forecasts:

Dr. Dre’s “Compton” – 40-45,000 pure sales | NOW 55 – 35-40,000 pure sales | NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton” – 27-30,000 pure sales | Melanie Martinez’ “Cry Baby” – 27-30,000 pure sales | Elvis Presley’s “Forever” – 25-28,000 pure sales | Bullet for My Valentine’s “Venom” – 24-27,000 pure sales | Taylor Swift’s “1989” – 19-22,000 pure sales | “Descendants” – 16-19,000 pure sales
