Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” Ranks as Hot AC Radio’s Most Played Song

Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” is on pace to reach #1 at a second radio format.

Already the leader at pop (and about to earn a fourth week on top), “Bad Blood” will this week claim the top spot on the Mediabase hot adult contemporary airplay chart.

Played 6,581 times during the period between July 4 and July 10, “Bad Blood” ranks as the format’s most played song. That count gives it a narrow edge over Walk the Moon’s reigning champion “Shut Up and Dance,” which received 6,568 spins within the same seven-day window.

Insofar as “Bad Blood” is rising and “Shut Up” is falling, the Taylor Swift song should have no trouble retaining (and likely extending) its lead through Sunday. If it does so, it will officially claim #1 on Mediabase’s Hot AC chart, which measures airplay between July 5 and July 11.

If “Bad Blood” indeed goes #1, it will become the fourth straight Hot AC chart-topper from Swift’s “1989.” Previous “1989” singles “Shake it Off,” “Blank Space” and “Style” all reached #1 at Hot AC.

The previous three “1989” singles also reached #1 at the pop and adult contemporary formats.
