“Bad Blood” Tops Sales Chart; Taylor Swift Ties Katy Perry’s Mark

Purchased 385,000 times in the May 18-24 tracking week, Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” comfortably topped industry forecasts.

It also earned Swift a position atop the weekly Digital Songs chart (and contributed greatly to the song’s #1 ascent on the Billboard Hot 100).

“Bad Blood” becomes Swift’s tenth Digital Songs #1 and thrust the singer-songwriter into a tie for second-most all-time #1s.

Like Swift, Katy Perry has also sent ten entries to #1 on the Digital Songs chart. Rihanna, the all-time record holder, is responsible for 12 chart-toppers.

Given the assumption that Katy Perry is the target of Swift’s “Bad Blood,” there is a poetry to this week’s Digital Songs achievement.
