Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” Already Ranks as One of Pop’s 20 Most Played

Pop radio programmers clearly have no “Bad Blood” with Taylor Swift. They are enthusiastically spinning her new song.

And even though the song did not formally launch until Monday, May 17, it ranks as one of the top twenty songs for the entire week between May 15 and 21.

According to Mediabase, “Bad Blood” received 4,567 spins within that weekly window. That positions it at #19 on Mediabase’s rolling airplay chart.

While the song was receiving some anticipatory airplay ahead of Sunday’s video premiere and Monday’s formal radio debut, the overwhelming majority of its airplay did not come until May 17. In essence, the song required less than a full tracking week’s worth of attention to register as one of pop radio’s twenty biggest songs.

By the time Sunday’s official airplay chart emerges, it will rank even higher than #19.

— A multi-format offering, “Bad Blood” is currently #22 on the rolling hot adult contemporary chart (1,278 spins between May 15-21), #40 on the rolling rhythmic listing (479 spins) and #43 on the rolling adult contemporary breakdown (37 spins).
