Nick Fradiani Wins American Idol; Tops Clark Beckham in Season 14 Finale

He was widely viewed as the season’s most improved contestant. That improvement allowed dark horse Nick Fradiani to win the fourteenth season of FOX’s “American Idol.”

Fradiani, who will be signed to Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label group, defeated longstanding frontrunner Clark Beckham in this week’s finale. He joins a club of victors that includes Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips, Candice Glover and Caleb Johnson.

Following his victory, attention turns to coronation single “Beautiful Life.” The track, which will be used as a theme song for the Women’s World Club, is currently #8 on iTunes.

Beckham’s “Champion,” which would have been this year’s official “Idol” victory single had he won, is #35.
