Jax is Eliminated; Clark Beckham, Nick Fradiani Battle in “American Idol” Finale

New Jersey native Jax clearly established a fanbase during her run on “American Idol,” but the connection with the voting public was not sufficiently strong. Long perceived as one of the two frontrunners, Jax was eliminated at the onset of Tuesday’s final season fourteen “Idol” performance show.

Jax’ elimination produced a final showdown between Clark Beckham and Nick Fradiani. The battle matched the other longstanding frontrunner (Clark) with the ever-improving dark horse (Nick).

Each performed three songs to make his final case for America’s vote. Beckham reprised “Georgia on My Mind” as his personal favorite, performed the Simon Fuller-selected “Ain’t No Sunshine” and then debuted his potential coronation single “Champion.”

Fradiani, meanwhile, sang “Bright Lights” as his personal choice, “I Won’t Give Up” as Fuller’s pick and “Beautiful Life” as his potential single.

The winner will be revealed during Wednesday’s two-hour finale.
