“Empire” Returns This Fall, “New Girl” Heads to Midseason, “American Idol” Gets Last Season

In addition to several new series pickups, FOX’s 2015-16 scheduling announcement also includes noteworthy news regarding some of its existing series.

Juggernaut “Empire,” for instance, is indeed kicking off its second season this fall. Set to retain its 9PM timeslot, it will air out of new series “Rosewood.”

Fellow midseason 2014-15 series “The Last Man on Earth” is also on the fall docket for 2015-16.

“New Girl,” meanwhile, will be delayed until January. The series is still expected to receive a full fifth season, but the midseason move will allow it to air its episodes on an uninterrupted basis.

As many predicted, “American Idol” comes to a close this year. The fifteenth and final season will keep judges Harry Connick, Jr., Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez and host Ryan Seacrest on board.
