CBS Schedules the 2016 Grammys for a Monday Night

In 2016, “music’s biggest night” will not be a Sunday.

CBS confirms that the 2016 edition of its annual Grammy Awards broadcast will air on Monday, February 16. It will adhere to the usual 8-11:30PM ET broadcast structure.

While the Grammys ceremony has aired on different nights throughout history, it had seemingly found a home on Sunday in recent years. Save for a few one-year exceptions–recent editions of the MTV Video Music Awards and CMA Awards aired on Thursday, a recent Emmy Awards ceremony took place on Monday–Sunday has actually become the default day for most major awards shows.

Taylor Swift’s “1989” and Adele’s next album (should it launch within the cut-off window) are expected to be in contention for key prizes at the ceremony.
