The Weeknd’s “Earned It” Earns #1 at Pop Radio; Wiz Khalifa Goes Top 5

The pop radio airplay throne shifts from one “50 Shades of Grey” single to another.

After three weeks under the auspices of Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do,” Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart now recognizes The Weeknd’s “Earned It” as its leader.

“Earned It” claims #1 on the strength of its ~17,060 tracking week spins. Goulding’s song, which slips to #2 this week, received ~16,301 within the May 3-9 tracking window.

Pop is the third format at which “Earned It” has reached #1. It previously topped the urban airplay chart, and it continues to top rhythmic (~6,379 spins this week).

As for pop, Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” soars seven places to a new peak of #3 this week. It received ~13,959 spins during the tracking week and again ranks as pop’s greatest weekly airplay gainer (+3,090).

Jason Derulo’s “Want to Want Me” jumps to #4 this week on the strength of its ~13,883 spins, while Natalie La Rose’s #3-peaking “Somebody (featuring Jeremih)” falls to #5 with ~13,742 weekly spins.
